Just a quick look at the birthday cake I made for my sister-in-law for her birthday earlier this month:
I made marshmallow fondant, dyed it, rolled it out and scored it with a knife. Then I cut it into strips and wrapped it around tennis balls to make the balls of yarn- pretty simple with big wow factor.
I also discovered that Duncan Hine’s Devil’s food cake mix is dairy-free (made with cocoa powder!) so I used that and dressed it up with some cherries and made my frosting dairy-free, too. I felt like I was cheating when I ate this cake! Unfortunately, some of the frosting melted in the car on the way over, but it was delicious and we had a fun party.
