Morning walk

Evelyn, Fred the bear, and Mommy are out for a morning walk. You can’t beat an early morning breeze on a warm summer day. I hope your beginnings this morning are equally joyful.

3 Years and 10 Months

Today my sweetheart and I have been married 3 years.  It’s funny, 3 seems like a such small number.  It seems like we’ve been together forever.

I love being married. It is really the best thing ever and I know with a surety that it is what Heavenly Father wants for all of us.  2 is so much better than 1.  Adam said of Eve that she was bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh, and that they were to be ‘one flesh’ in their life together.  Steve is a part of me now just like my arm or leg is a part of me, except that I’d rather lose a limb than lose him.  Elder Jeffrey R. Holland taught that “From the Garden of Eden onward, marriage was intended to mean the complete merger of a man and a woman- their hearts, hopes, lives, love, family, future, everything.”  I understand this more every day.  Steve and I seem to be living some sort of dream life with hardly a worry and blessings more than we can count.  I know that part of that comes from the fact that everything we face, we face together.

It is certainly fun to have 3 of us as we celebrate our 3rd anniversary.  Evelyn brings such light to our lives and ties us together as a family even tighter.

She had her 10 month “birthday” yesterday, and enjoyed her first swimming pool experience.  We bought a cheap inflatable pool and she LOVED it.  I’m so happy.  We don’t have a bathtub, so she’s never really had the chance to splash and play in the water.

Evelyn is staying rather small, just like many of her cousins have done.  She is still 15 lbs, which she has been since about February.  She is still in her 3-6 month clothes.  She eats a ton and is healthy, so we aren’t too worried, but we do try and get plenty of calories in her.  She has recently started eating yogurt in the morning and is doing just fine with the addition of dairy in her diet.  Hooray!!  That intolerance stuff was no fun at all.

A week ago she started walking with help and enjoys holding our hands and walking around on her very wobbly legs.  She babbles a lot and we’re pretty sure she knows who Mama and Dada are, and she has definitely got a “Who’s that” which sounds a lot like “Who zat.”  She loves to wave hello and goodbye, she has 6 perfect teeth, and she very much enjoys brushing them.  She has recently started copying me and wants to rinse her toothbrush when I turn the sink on.  I love watching her learn.

And that is about it!

I’m about to eat this

Dang, the smells in this house are making my mouth water and my tummy rumble.

We’re trying out this lemon ricotta pancake this morning for breakfast and I can hardly wait. Isn’t it pretty?

Addendum: Amazing. This will be happening again.
