We had big plans for Evelyn’s 18 month birthday(the 25th of February). Well, sort of. By that, I mean we made a cake and planned on taking her picture with it. But then life got busy and I didn’t have time to frost the cake so I put the cake in the freezer and the frosting in the fridge. Where they remain untouched.
That night Evelyn didn’t sleep well. And then the next morning she threw up all over me as soon as I got dressed for church. And then she spent the rest of the week with a high fever, not sleeping or eating and visiting the doctor 4 times in 3 days and being poked and probed and generally hating life. Poor kiddo.
But now it is the weekend again and we are doing a lot better. I called and cancelled her doctor’s appointment today. I’m tired of watching them poke and probe and everything else. The fever is gone, and she slept last night. Maybe I’ll pull out the cake soon and we’ll take a picture.
But in the meantime, we are back to potty-training. Because I want this kid to be a little better trained when her little brother arrives NEXT MONTH! Can you believe I only have a month left? I’m so not ready. We are working on getting a little more independence from Evelyn when it comes to going to bed, trying to get rid of the pacifier, and trying to figure out how to get her to let us know when she needs to use the potty. I should probably also be thinking about things like “Where is this new baby going to sleep?” “What is he going to wear?” etc. But for now, my focus is on Evelyn. Yeah, I’m silly.
Luckily, MyBlogSpark contacted me again a couple weeks ago and asked if I wanted to try out and review some training pants. Are you kidding me? Of course I would! I was quite skeptical of being able to use them, since they are size 2T- 3T, and Evelyn is back down under 20 lbs (thanks to her illness), and wearing size 12 month clothes. But they are great!
Let me back up, since I’m supposed to be reviewing this product and I haven’t even told you what it is.
Seventh Generation partnered up with Universal Studios’ release of Dr. Seuss’ release of The Lorax, and so now their diapers have pictures of the Lorax on them to remind parents of environmental responsibility, as well as to encourage reading. We’re all about those things at the Flynn house, especially when it comes to Dr. Seuss (Happy Birthday to him, by the way!). They sent me a package of Free & Clear training pants, which have an absorbent core made with more renewable, plant-based materials. They also feature stretchy, tear away side panels for a better fit and added convenience, as well as inner leak barriers for leakage protection.
Evelyn probably isn’t quite ready for training pants- she goes potty in the potty if we ask her to, and she occasionally tells us if she needs to “go poopy,” but she never stops herself from going in her diaper and rarely initiates the idea of using the potty by herself. But I love them, anyway. It is so handy to just slip them on, and they hold stuff in much better than I expected, especially since they are too big for her. I also appreciate that Seventh Generation Free & Clear baby care products do not contain chlorine, fragrance, petroleum-based lotions or latex, and all Free & Clear products are also hypo-allergenic. Evelyn has had allergy problems with diapers before.
So, will I switch her? Probably not. I’m too much of a penny-pincher. Amazon currently offers these training pants for .35 each with their Subscribe & Save/Amazon Mom discount, which is a fantastic deal. However, I’m currently using Luv’s with the same deals, and their current price is .16 per diaper. She is leaking at night, however, so I appreciate the thought of switching, especially as I’m told that right now Seventh Generation is promoting their newest product, which will be introduced later this month- Overnight diapers, which profess to be absorbent enough to keep your baby and bedding dry through the night or during prolonged travel. I think I may be giving those a try soon.
MyBlogSpark is giving me the opportunity to let you try a Seventh Generation Free & Clear baby care product, as well, along with a copy of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax. Simply leave a comment below letting me know which product you would like to try- NEW Free & Clear Overnight Diapers, Free & Clear diapers, or Free & Clear training pants.
Feel free to send any potty training advice you have for me, as well. I need all the help I can get.
Giveaway ends Tuesday, March 6th.
